With 25 years of commercial real estate experience under his belt, Wally Fluhr is the Broker – Owner of Fluhr CRE. He has earned the coveted CCIM designation which recognizes Wally as an expert in the commercial and investment real estate industry. He has served in a number of positions in the local CCIM Chapter as well as the Board of Realtors.
Wally has managed multi-million dollar development projects, parcel acquisitions, zoning cases, data center expansions, Class A construction build-outs, and many other commercial real estate projects. Wally currently volunteers his time by sitting on multiple boards assisting for profit and not-for-profit organizations, such helping as a bank in Florida and churches in Newport, RI; Boston, MA; Cape Town, South Africa; and Lagos, Nigeria become self sufficient, self governing, and self propagating.
He married his high school sweetheart almost 40 years ago and together they have 3 children and 10 grandchildren.
Fluhr CRE has a unique timeline of notable events that have ultimately led us to where we are today. It began in 1979 when Wally obtained his Real Estate License from the State of Kentucky.
Because Wally grew up in a family of real estate professionals, his family encouraged him to also get into the business at a young age, but he wasn’t ready to jump into real estate full-time at the age of 19. Instead, he decided to join the government and work as a civilian for the Department of Defense. In 1995, as an Analyst for the Department of the Navy, he broke ties with the government and pursued another path.
Wally knew that all things real estate, property management, and investing were his true passions. During his time with the Defense Department, he purchased his first investment property in 1991. He found his niche in commercial real estate to be very similar to his analyst position in the Navy as he could use the same critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Upon leaving the DoD, Wally was hired by Nicklies & Co. as Operations Director providing a path for a long term career in the commercial real estate field. After several years of asset management experience, he began to sell and lease industrial property for the largest commercial real estate company in the state of Kentucky, CBRE/Nicklies.
Wally’s wife and father were both working at Coldwell Banker and CB commercial, so in 2000 he went to work with them.
Four years later Wally accepted a new position at Semonin Commercial to lead their Commercial Division. In 2005, Wally earned his Certified Commercial Investment Member status and, finally in 2008, Fluhr Commercial Real Estate was born.
Over the past 25 years, each chapter of Wally’s career paved the way for Fluhr CRE to not only exist as a commercial real estate resource but to thrive and become a trusted expert in the field.
As the owner, Fluhr has been privileged to use the experience and resources gained to support new church planters as they navigate finding suitable space for their unique needs. Whether they’re looking to lease or purchase, Wally acts as a broker/liaison between the young, newly formed churches and landlords or sellers to secure an ideal location and deal terms that best fit their needs and budget.
